Temporary Chats

Temporary Chat allows you to interact with the assistant in a lightweight, popup-style chat without creating a new thread or saving any messages. It's perfect for side questions, quick tests, or one-off tasks.

🔄 How It Works

  • Open/Close Anytime: Use the shortcut (⌘K) or the button in the top right corner to access the temporary chat.

  • Reset Feature: You can reset the temporary chat using the shortcut (⌘E).

  • Sliding Panel: The chat appears as a right-side sliding panel, allowing you to keep your main chat open.

  • No Save Function: Messages sent in this chat are not saved to history; once closed, they're gone.

  • Custom System Prompt: Temporary chat supports its own System Prompt, enabling you to customize behavior.

💡 Tip: The key () corresponds to Control on Mac, the Windows key on Windows, and the Super key on Linux.

🧠 Why It's Useful

Imagine you're in the middle of an important discussion and suddenly need a quick translation or want to test a tool without cluttering your main chat. Temporary Chat is designed for that.

Use Cases Include:

  • Quick Queries: Ask a side question without breaking the flow of the main conversation.

  • Prompt Testing: Test a prompt or tool before integrating it into your main chat.

  • Dedicated Tasks: Set up a specialized system prompt for focused tasks (e.g., translation, formatting).

📝 Real-World Example

If you are not fluent in English, you can set a translation-focused system prompt in the temporary chat (e.g., "Translate everything naturally between French and English without extra explanation"). While having a main conversation, whenever you need a translation, you can quickly open the temporary chat using the shortcut. You’ll get the translation you need to understand the context, and then you can return to your main chat to continue discussing.

Temporary Chat helps keep your main conversations clean while providing the flexibility and speed you need for all your side tasks.
